Mabinay is an upland municipality situated 88 kilometers north of Dumaguete City right near the provincial boundary of Negros Oriental and Occidental. It is known to have some of the best cave system in the Philippines. In this municipality alone, there are bouts a hundred or more caves. To date, the South Negros Speleo, Mountain & Cave Rescue team, have already explored about 45 caves here in Mabinay and we have listed prospective caves that are to be explored this summer, when the water is low.
 

BAJO ( Smelly) CAVES at Bayawan City
( 108 kms south of Dumaguete)
 
Entrance to the cave one has to rappel down 20 meters. The cave is 800 meters long. It has an underground waterfall and the formation in here is undisturbed. To exit, one is lying and clearance between water and ceiling of cave is 8 inches and will have to maneuver this about 15 meters long. The guide Mr. Beam Libo-0n is experienced and a Mountain and Cave Rescue Guide and works for the Geothermal Plant.
