Just a kilometer away off the Strong Republic Nautical highway, is one of Region-7's Agri-Tourism highlights. Hacienda San Julio in Tanjay City is a sugar plantation open for tourists to learn where sugar comes from; and how the farm folk live. Guests are greeted by serenading farm workers, and are offered calamansi juice - from calamansi grown on the farm and sugar from sugarcanes - definitely fruits of their labor. Visitors are accompanied by a professional tour guide.
A tour in the farm allows visitors to see sugarcane, pomelo and mango trees (depending on the season). The visitors can cut canes, pick fruits and have them weighed and priced for them to take home. Visitors are also offered fresh coconut juice, to try carabao back-riding and to learn the abaca weaving. Abaca mats are made by the farm women and some sample of their products are given to the tourists as souvenirs. |
